Located in Des Moines, Iowa, Hoyt Sherman Place is a historical building completed in 1877. It was the home of Hoyt Sherman, a prominent American banker and some of his family members who were also prominent members of society. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
Inside Hoyt Sherman Place, the Hoyt Sherman Auditorium has a capacity of 1,400 and serves as the home of the Ballet Des Moines, among other purposes. Theatrical productions, comedy shows, and club programs also take place within the auditorium.
The Hoyt Sherman Auditorium was first built in 1923 and served originally as a clubhouse for the Des Moines Women’s Club.
