It is almost time for the biggest sporting event of the year: the Super Bowl. Super Bowl LIV will take place in Miami, Florida and the Magic City has plenty more to offer than just sunny beaches. Despite it being in the mid-winter, the weather will be perfect for just about anything. The following activities provide a variety of options for Super Bowl attendees to enjoy while in Miami for the weekend.
Miami Beach
Every year, Miami Beach welcomes millions of visitors seeking sunshine and blue waters.
Although technically outside of the city limits, Miami Beach is one of the most iconic destinations in the area. With highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid-60s, it may be too chilly to go for a swim, but it’s perfect for a day of relaxing and catching rays in the sand.
Art Deco District
A night walk down Ocean Drive is highlighted by hotel lights and Art Deco architecture.
If you make it out to Miami Beach, be sure to take a walk down Ocean Drive in the Art Deco District. The area is full of great restaurants and beautiful architecture consisting primarily of vintage hotels decorated in the Art Deco style. Visitors can also stroll through Lummus Park and enjoy the sea breeze and palm trees.
Bayside Marketplace
Bayside Marketplace is popular for tourists and locals alike due to its live music and warm ambiance.
The best time to visit the Bayside Marketplace is at night when you can catch live street entertainment as well as a great view of the bay illuminated by the lights of the market. The Bayside Marketplace consists of 150 shops including restaurants, cafes and boutiques. The best part? It’s almost entirely all outdoors.
Little Havana
Some of the best food in Miami can be found from vendors serving Cuban specialties in Little Havana.
Due to its proximity to the island, Miami is home to the largest population of Cubans in the country. Little Havana is a result of cultural fusion between Cubans and Miami locals. The area is full of authentic Cuban cuisine and the streets come alive with Latin music and vendors.
Miami Science Museum
A set of rotating exhibits keeps the Miami Science Museum fresh for newcomers and veteran visitors alike.
The Miami Science Museum provides visitors with six floors of interactive exhibits across fields such as biology, physics and chemistry. Its aquarium and planetarium are its biggest draws, but the museum also provides an interactive laser exhibit that has drawn great reviews.
Everglades National Park
Greenery and wildlife highlight the paths of the Everglades National Park.
If you are a fan of the outdoors, then spending a day in the Everglades National Park is a must. In the park, visitors are free to go bicycling, fishing, birdwatching, and kayaking. Fishermen can charter a fishing boat at the local Flamingo Marina and fish in both freshwater and saltwater. The Longping Key Natural Trail provides the perfect path for bicycling as well.
AmericanAirlines Arena
Some of the greatest athletes and performers of all time have played in the famed AmericanAirlines Arena, including the 2013 NBA Champions, the Miami Heat.
One would be remiss to go to Miami and not catch a Heat game in the famous AmericanAirlines Arena. The Heat don’t have a game slated for the weekend of the Super Bowl, but for visitors staying an extra night or two, the team plays the following Monday against one of the league’s best teams: the 76ers. Only in town for the weekend? Fortunately, AmericanAirlines features two of its biggest shows of the year with Guns N’ Roses playing Friday night and Maroon 5 playing Saturday night.
The city of Miami is full of adventures and is one of the best cities to host the Super Bowl. Be sure to get your ticket to the big game at TicketOffices.com!
